From our garden

We are located 26 km from Pärnu, Tallinn-Pärnu mnt. in the rural municipality of Northern Pärnu County.
Over the years, the garden of an ordinary country house has become the largest private collection garden in Estonia, where planting areas on 3 hectares have been built on more than 5000 m2 since 2007  . In the garden, we take three people, in addition to me, my wife Aini and son Priid.

How many varieties !?

The garden grows perennials of more than 5,000 names (this number is constantly increasing), in addition to  grass about 100 names, onions more than 700 different, ferns 100 names.  This is of special interest to triplets, primroses, hostas,, mother roots, fires, alpine plants, so-called forest plants (shade plants), varieties of silk hats.
Plants from the Far East and Japan, as well as from the Alps, are particularly attractive.

The farm has a young park with a collection of birch, maple, alder, linden, rowan, rhododendron, oak and coniferous trees (construction started in autumn 2006). At present, conifers have more than 200 names, deciduous shrubs more than 800 species and varieties. In the autumn of 2018, the construction of a bog and bog garden was started, to which in the following years small species and forms of rhododendrons, insectivorous plants, etc. will be added.

However, a very important sight for our family is the ordinary oak on the plot, the diameter of which is more than 30 m (measured in September 2019), the circumference of the trunk from the height of the chest  410 cm. As it has grown in an open field, a regular broad crown has developed and horizontal branches starting at a height of about 2 m extend from the ends to the ground. Age probably 200-300 years. The corky variant of the large-fruited oak is very exciting. Cork oak does not grow in Estonia, but a large-grain oak can successfully replace cork oak in our climate

Come discover how beautiful alder can be, what wonderful and incredible shapes oaks have. There are also very special microscopic plants in the world of perennials, which must be viewed while lying on the ground or with a magnifying glass, and at the same time also giants that can grow over 3 m tall in summer!

You are welcome to visit our garden throughout the summer (April-October) and to see the permanent flowers and trees and shrubs that grow in our climate. Please  be sure to call the phone in advance. +372 5340 6785 or contact us by e-mail viivilepik@hotmail.com. It is not possible to visit the garden without prior arrangement!
